DR. HELMUT KERL

Helmut_kerl

Professor of Dermatology and Chairman emeritus at the Department of Dermatology, Medical University of Graz, Austria. He has served as President for several International Dermatological Societies including the International Society of Dermatopathology and the International League of Dermatopathology. He is also the founder of the European Society for Dermatopathology and the International Board Certification in Dermatopathology. He has created a center for dermatopathology in Graz where students from all over the world come to work.

Dr. Kerl has authored over 500 scientific publications (first and senior author), several books on dermatology, and has delivered more than 500 lectures including several named lectureships throughout the world. He is an Honorary Member or Member of many National and International Societies including the American Dermatological Association. Dr. Kerl served at the Editorial Boards of a number of prestigious dermatology and pathology journals. He has recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International League of Dermatology and has been elected as a Member of the German Academy of Sciences.

His research interests and main dermatological specialities are dermatopathology, cutaneous oncology, and general dermatology.

H. Kerl is currently (since 2009) Guest Professor at the Department of Dermatology, University of Zurich, Switzerland.

KITTLER HARALD, MD

Professor at the Department of Dermatology, Medical University of Vienna, in Vienna/ Austria. He has special clinical interest in dermoscopy of pigmented skin lesions. The main research interest is digital dermoscopy, follow-up of pigmented skin lesions and computer assisted digital dermoscopy. Dr. Kittler has been working for 10 years in the field of dermoscopy and has published a number of scientific articles especially in the field of digital dermoscopy and dermoscopic follow-up of melanocytic nevi.

Patricia DeVilliers, DDS, MS

Dr. DeVilliers is an Assistant Professor and board certified oral and maxillofacial pathologist. She is a native of Bogota, Colombia where she graduated from dental school. She studied Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at the Medical University of Southern Africa in Pretoria. She then moved to Denver, CO where she owned a private practice in General and Cosmetic Dentistry.

Before joining UAB in 2006, Dr. DeVilliers completed a 3 year residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel

Hill, with additional training in Head and Neck Pathology and Forensics at the AFIP.

GEOFFREY GOTTLIEB, M.D.

Dr. Geoffrey Gottlieb received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Cornell University and Cornell University Medical College, respectively, completing his internship, residency, and post-doctoral training in pathology at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. He subsequently completed a fellowship in dermatopathology at New York University Medical Center. Dr. Gottlieb joined StrataDx in 2011, after serving as medical director and fellowship director of the Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathology/Ameripath, He also held teaching positions at Cornell University Medical College, New York University Medical Center, and William Beaumont Hospital. Dr. Gottlieb has authored and co-authored multiple books and journal articles, including Histologic Diagnosis Of Inflammatory Skin Diseases: An Algorithmic Method Based On Pattern Analysis, and has served on the editorial boards of American Journal of Dermatopathology, where he was an assistant editor, and Dermatopathology: Practical and Conceptual.

Dr. Croitoru authored and co-authored articles in peer reviewed journals, had numerous presentations and contributed to the chapter in "Infectious diseases of the skin" in the Dermatopathology Textbook in the series "Foundations in Pathology", published by Elsevier in 2009.

Dr. OMAR SANGUEZA

Dr Sangüeza is board-certified in clinical and anatomic pathology and dermatopathology. He received his medical degree from Universidad Literaria de Valencia, Valencia, Spain. He completed residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at Oregon Health Sciences University, Portland, Oregon. He completed fellowships in dermatopathology at New York University Medical Center and Oregon Health Sciences University and a service of dermatology fellowship at Provincial Hospital Valencia. Dr Sangüeza is a member of several professional organizations, including the International Society of Dermatopathology, Colegio Ibero- latino-Americano de Dermatología, and the American Society of Dermatopathology. He has published extensively. Dr. Sangueza is one of the past presidents of The International Society of Dermatipathology and he is also Editor- in- Chief of the American Journal of Dermathopathology.

Dr. MANFRED BELEUT

Chief Scientific Officer, PAREQ AG Germany/Switzerland Manfred Beleut brings significant experience in the fields of oncology, biomarkers and translational pathology and is the scientific co-founder and CSO of the PAREQ AG. He is a trained molecular biologist, and performed his postdoctoral work at the Zurich University Hospital. Dr. Beleut holds a PhD from the University of Lausanne, has experience in both international academic and non-academic industries, and brings expertise in long standing patient care. In addition to his academic degrees, Dr. Beleut has a certificate in Good Clinical Practice, Clinical Studies and Biosafety as well as a diploma in project management. He has been awarded grants from Roche, Pfizer, and the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). In 2007, he was selected by BioVision –The World Life Science Forum – as one of 100 most promising future bioleaders to form the BioVision Nxt. ”Class of 2007“. Dr. Beleut is also the recipient of a life-saving award, granted by the Bavarian Government.

Has graduated from "Victor Babes" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timisoara, Romania and completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. This was followed by fellowships in Oncologic Pathology and Molecular Pathology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY and a Dermatopathology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. Dr Andea is currently an Associate Professor of Pathology and Dermatology and Head of the Dermatopathology Section at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr Andea has authored and co-authored over 30 manuscripts and maintains an active research interest in cutaneous neoplasia especially melanocytic and neuroendocrine tumors.

Dr. CASSIAN SITARU

Is a physician scientist at the University of Freiburg, Freiburg, Germany. He studied medicine and psychology in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and earned doctoral degrees from the Medical Schools of the “Iuliu- Hatieganu” University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania and Würzburg, Germany. Dr. Sitaru trained in dermatology and performed postdoctoral research at the Universities in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Würzburg, and Lübeck, Germany. Based on the research accomplishments in the field of immunodermatology, he obtained the qualification as university lecturer (Habilitation) and established a research group focusing on the autoimmune skin diseases, with emphasis on blistering diseases. He published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals and serves as reviewer for medical journals, including the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, Journal of Immunology, and Journal of Clinical Investigation. He is member of the Editorial Boards of the Open Pathology Journal, the Open Autoimmunity Journal, Biology and Therapy of Cancer Cell, and of the Faculty of 1000 Medicine section Dermatology.

Dr. WOLFGANG WEYERS

Is Assistant professor (“Oberarzt”) at the Center of Dermatology and Andrology of the University of Giessen. He is member of the editorial board of the journal “Dermatopathology: Practical and Conceptual”, Historian of the International Society of Dermatopathology, Director (together with Carlos Diaz, M.D.) of the Center for Dermatopathology, Freiburg, Germany, member of the Executive Committee of the European Society of Dermatopathology, Member of the editorial board of the journal, “American Journal of Dermatopathology”. He took part to the organization of the 15th Congress of the German Society of Dermatopathology (ADH) in Freiburg (together with M. Braun-Falco).

(1950) graduated in dentistry and medicine. Currently he is professor of Pathology at the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Center. He has published more than 200 papers and has edited and contributed to several books in this field. His research interest is in molecular biology of head and neck squamous cell cancer and its precursor stages and surgical pathology of the maxillofacial bones. He is a member of the Editorial Board of Oral Oncology, Virchows Archives, J Craniomaxillofac Surg, Int J Oral Maxillofac Surg, Path Res Int, and Oral Maxillofac Surg.

AIKATERINI PATSATSI, MD

Was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. She completed her Medical Studies and her residency in Dermatology & Venereology at the Medical School of Aristotle Uninersity of Thessaloniki. She was engaged as a Research Associate at the University Department of Dermatology of the Hospital of Skin and Venereal Diseases of Thessaloniki for 5 years, while completing her Thesis on “Detection of BP180 and BP230 autoantibodies as a method for diagnosis and follow up of patients with bullous pemphigoid”. She was granted for the completion of her Thesis after National Exams by the Greek Scholarship Foundation for research in Greece. In 2009 she was elected in the position of a Lecturer in Dermatology at the 2nd Dermatology Department, Medical School of Aristotle Uninersity of Thessaloniki, hosted in Papageorgiou General Hospital. In 2008 and in 2009 she attended two Fellowships in Dermatopathology, at Dermatologikum, Hamburg and at the Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathology, New York. In 2009 she completed also the Basic Dermoscopy Course by the University of Graz and was awarded with the International Dermoscopy Diploma. She focuses in Dermatopathology, Bullous Diseases, Psoriasis and Cutaneous Lymphomas. She has contributed in 29 Pubmed cited publications, 9 papers in other Data bases, 3 chapters in Greek Dermatology Books, 30 publications in Greek Medical Journals and more than 70 free abstracts in International and National Congresses. She is a member of the Greek Association of Dermatologists, European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, American Academy of Dermatology, European Society of Pediatric Dermatology and International Society of Dermatopathology.
